Returns and refunds: how it works for an online seller
A return isn't automatic: the buyer requests it, and the seller accepts or refuses it. Understanding this mechanism avoids unpleasant surprises on what you thought was definitively earned.
The window during which a return is possible
After delivery, the buyer has 14 days to request a return. Past that window, the sale is definitively theirs and no return can be requested anymore for that order.
Accepting or refusing a request
When a return request comes in, the seller has 48 hours to accept or refuse it, depending on whether it's justified (an item not matching its description, for example, rather than a simple unplanned change of mind). That decision is the seller's, not automatic in the buyer's favor.
What an accepted return changes for the seller
If the return is accepted, the buyer is refunded and the seller doesn't keep their share of that sale — logical, since the sale itself is cancelled. In exchange, no commission is owed on an amount that was never actually kept. If the request is refused, the sale stands as usual.
