Creating an online shop for free in Morocco
"Free" means two very different things depending on the route you take. Here's the distinction worth knowing before starting, so hidden costs don't show up later.
A free, DIY website
Tools exist to build a free showcase site, but "free" usually stops at the basic theme: a custom domain, online payment, stock and delivery management are almost always paid add-ons once you go past the bare minimum. And a free site brings no visitors on its own — you have to build your own traffic before selling anything.
A shop on a marketplace, no subscription
On MODEACC, opening a shop costs nothing: no subscription, no fixed fee to create or keep a shop active. The difference from a typical free website is that the shop sits inside a marketplace that already has buyers, and payment and delivery are handled without any setup on your part. In exchange, a commission of 8 to 15% applies on each sale that's actually paid — nothing is taken outside of an actual sale.
Which one to choose
A free DIY website makes sense if the goal is a long-term showcase and you're ready to invest time in your own traffic. A shop on a marketplace makes sense to sell quickly, with no technical setup and without waiting to have built an audience — the three documents required (see the article on necessary documents) are the only step before opening.
